We are planning for 36 game sessions, over roughly three years (we may break for December, and October, for AVLScarefest which has a convention LARP events, and many of our players attend.)

To give players joining the game or if your character meets an untimely end, a hand up where they are not completely overwhelmed, they do not start at the beginning, with 30XP, instead they will be built with:
They will then earn Graduated XP (as described above) going forward, as well as Catch Up XP:
This initially favors other characters who have been with the game and diligently turned in their downtimes, but will allow new characters a chance to catch up (or partially catch up, if the character is coming in late in the game).
By filling out our Long-Form background document, you can earn an additional experience on either a brand new character, or a secondary character. You have the first three months of playing a character to fill this form out, and submit it to the Storytellers for approval. They will award you 10 extra XP upon approval.
In the first three months of playing any character, with approval from the Storytellers, you can make mechanical changes to your character. This should let you tune your character as you learn the game. We ask that you do your best to not change major character flaws that other characters have learned about in character.
Characters cease to be active after a third consecutive game is missed without downtimes turned in. Characters who both miss three consecutive games while turning in no downtimes will stop earning monthly XP. Characters cease to be active after six consecutive games missed, regardless of downtime submissions.
Contact the staff for appeals and special circumstances, we can work with you if you are planning extended travel or have life events that prevent you from playing for a while.
A player may only turn in one downtime, regardless of quantity of characters. (You can not enter a downtime for both your primary and secondary characters). A player may never have more than two characters at a time.
